Lepidosauria consists of a diverse group of reptiles comprising an estimated 9000 species of tuatara, lizards, snakes, and worm lizards. These reptiles are known for their consistent overlapping scales while other features leave room for distinguishable morphological differences. Some members of lepidosauria even have the ability to completely lose limbs, especially their tails, through an ability called autotomization.
